The 1 Million Dollar BillBoard What is the purpose of this site?

The purpose of this website is to provide 10 years of advertising for a "one time only" price, and for as low as just $150.00 (USD). This is done by selling ad space by the pixel (or in this case "blocks of pixels") and utilizing the internet's newest marketing tool, an online billboard. That has enabled us to create an advertising environment which allows the small player to sit right up next to the "BIG" boys and compete against each other, on a level playing field.

Billboards are one of the internet's most innovative and cost effective long-term marketing tools, and they are revolutionizing the way companies promote their sites. Where else can you advertise online for as low as 150.00 (USD) and for up to 10* years of advertising. Don't miss out, make sure you're a part of it.

To find out more go to the About This Site page.

*The site will expire on January 1st, 2016. That means that this site will be online for 10 YEARS as of the starting date of January 1st 2006!

The 1 Million Dollar BillBoard What is a "block" of pixels?

If you look at the Billboard you'll see that it is made up of a whole lot of squares that are light grey in color. A "block" of pixels is just one of those squares. Each "block" measures 20 pixels wide, by 20 pixels high (not including the border surrounding each "block").

The 1 Million Dollar BillBoard How did you come up with the idea?

Unfortunately I didn't come up with this idea, (that was tough to say) someone else did. And to tell you the truth I wish I had because it's a brilliant concept.

The idea of selling space by the pixels was the brainstorm of a 21 year old university student who lives in Wiltshire, England. He was looking for an idea to help pay his way through university and came up with an innovative idea. Although he does not promote his site as an online billboard that is exactly what I thought it looked like. So I changed things a bit, added some great new ideas, and as a result created this website.

Internet World Stats, (located at www.internetworldstats.com), has statistics on it's website (updated on November 9th, 2005) that show there are 964,289,701 internet users in the world today. That's almost 1 BILLION people, and all of them using the internet. Billboard advertising is the best way to diversify advertising and incorporate it all onto one page. Think of it as a sort of a "directory".

However, because the student from England had such a brilliant idea, I encourage you to support him as well, and you can do that by going to his website. It's called The Million Dollar Homepage and it's located here!!

The 1 Million Dollar BillBoard How long will my ad/image be online?

I want to do this for a living so I intend to keep this site up and running for a very long time. Therefore all the ads/images on this website will all expire on January 1st, 2016. That means that this site will be online for 10 YEARS as of the starting date of January 1st 2006!

The 1 Million Dollar BillBoard Why is it called The 1 Million Dollar Billboard?

The original concept of the site was to provide a billboard and to sell 1 million pixels, at 1 dollar a pixel. That adds up to 1 million dollars, and that's where the original name of the site comes from. However since then, it's been decided that this site is just going to grow and grow and grow and grow infinitely.

The 1 Million Dollar BillBoard How much does it cost to buy a block of pixels?

There are 2 choices of Pixels available for purchase, and only 1 Prime Pixel Showcase:

Choice # 1 - Regular Pixels
• 1 Regular block of pixels (see illustration 1 below) measuring 20 pixels wide, by 20 pixels high, is just $150.00 (USD) for 10 years. These pixels make up the majority of the Billboard and may not occupy any other pixels spaces as outlined below. (Keep reading)

Choice # 2 - Prime Pixels
• 1 block of Prime Pixels (see illustration 2 below) measures 42 pixels wide, by 20 pixels high, and is just $400.00 (USD) for 10 years. Prime Pixels are black in color, numbered, and are surrounded by a light green border (which is NOT part of it's measurements). They are positioned in a unique "X" configuration on the Billboard to stand out!

Prime Pixel Showcase - (Only 1 available per section)
• The cost to occupy the Prime Pixel Showcase (see illustration 4 below) is $7500.00 (USD) for 10 years. This is priced below what it would cost to occupy an equal amount of pixels anywhere else on the Billboard. We are doing this to secure a long-term tenant for this spot as soon as possible.

Your image can be an incredible 195 pixels in width, by 126 pixels in height, and will be located right in the center of the Billboard. There will only be one Prime Pixel Showcase available on this section of the Billboard.

The 1 Million Dollar BillBoard Why is there a grey border around the images?

The grey border that surrounds each image (by the way it's 2 pixels wide) is really designed to keep all the images separated, and to make for easier mouse clicking.

But there's another benefit too. If you purchase more than one block of pixels and then place them side by side, your image will gain an extra 2 pixels for each additional block you buy. That's because your image gets to cover up most of those grey borders.

The 1 Million Dollar BillBoard What are the minimum or maximum amount of pixels allowed?

The maximum amount of blocks that you can purchase is completely up to you. Buying as many "blocks" of pixels as you want allows you to either group them together to accommodate a larger image or to place multiple "blocks" in random positions around the Billboard.

The minimum amount of pixels that you may purchase is one single "block" measuring 20 pixels wide, by 20 pixels high.

The 1 Million Dollar BillBoard Can I change my image in the future?

No you may not. Once your image is posted it is not allowed to be changed.

The 1 Million Dollar BillBoard Can I use banners or animated images?

No. Banners and animated images are not permitted on this site.

The 1 Million Dollar BillBoard If I buy more than 1 block of pixels, how big should my image be?

Because of the 2 pixel border between each block of pixels, your image size increases by that amount as well, but only when you place the blocks side by side, on top of each other, or a combination of both.

If you plan on buying 2 or more blocks of pixels and then placing them side by side on the Billboard then our Block Sizing Page can help you to determine the appropriate size of your image.

Go to the Block Sizes Page for assistance in determining the appropriate size of your image.

The 1 Million Dollar BillBoard How big is this Internet Billboard going to get?

There is no limit to the size of the Billboard (which makes up the homepage). It will just continue to grow along with the demand! The Billboard that you can see now on the homepage may just be one "section" of an ever BIGGER Billboard, if all goes well.

One of the goals is to create the internet's BIGGEST Billboard ever, and to keep it that way. Something that will sort of "awe" people when they see it, and draw them back to the site. I want to make it the talk of the net for many, many, years to come. Don't miss out, make sure that you're a part of it.

The 1 Million Dollar BillBoard What do I need to know before I purchase pixels?

• First you're going to need to know what "type" of pixels you'd like to purchase. You have 2 choices when it comes to Pixels. They are, Regular Pixels and Prime Pixels. For more information on the 2 different types of pixels go here!

Prime Pixels are an innovative and new approach to marketing that have been developed especially for this site.

• Secondly, you're going to need to know how many "blocks" of pixels you'll want your image to occupy, and that decision depends on how much you want to invest (they kinda go hand in hand). If you purchase more than 1 "block" of Regular Pixels and place them side by side, on top of each other, or a combination of both, then you'll want to visit our helpful Block Sizing page. It'll help you get more pixels for your money and it's located here.

For more information about Prime Pixels go here!

• And the final decision you'll have to make is what shape you'll want the image to be on the Billboard. If you buy more than one "block" of pixels then you have an opportunity to get creative. The topic of creativity is discussed in the very next question.

If you'd like to see some ideas on how to be creative with your pixels then click here!

The 1 Million Dollar BillBoard Can I help promote my ad on this site?

Yes you can, and you should, by using email. Once your image is published on the Billboard send out a mass email to your friends and clients and include a direct link to this website.

Let them know that you have decided to participate in an exciting and new internet venture whose goal it is to become the internet's BIGGEST Billboard. The aim is to stir up their curiosity enough to have them pay a visit to the site. In doing so, it is very possible that their word of mouth will help to spread news of the site to their friends and associates, much quicker.

We want to promote the use of this strategy to each new advertiser, whether they sign up today, or years from now. This way the potential for growth continues, even long after you've conducted your own mass email.

The 1 Million Dollar BillBoard Where is my image and link going to be located on this site?

You tell us. After you've made your purchase you'll be given the opportunity to let us know how many squares down, and how many squares across it is that you'd like to see your image placed. We can't guarantee an exact placing every time (due to the first come first served rule). But it'll be pretty close.

If you're purchasing Prime Pixels then it's as easy as letting us know which number you'd like you're image to occupy.
